Darius' surgery is scheduled for
the 3rd of December 2007.
Thanks to YOU, PEOPLE OF HEART, now Darius can afford
this surgery. Actually, in case you didn't calculate, Darius
has now ALL THE MONEY he needs for the surgery and transport,
and somenthing extra, to cover possible unexpected hospital
expenses!!!
The extra money give Darius the chance to stay in the german
hospital during the recovery period, which can be beneficial
for his health; also, they will try to resolve the situation
of the tracheostoma (it helps him breathe at the moment,
but it is an open gate for germs and makes normal feeding
impossible).

by Madalina's cousin, Lili, who was in cherge of Darius'
campaign:
"I am very happy! Madalina was worried of the possibility
of having to borrow money that she might not be able to
give back, now the money Darius needs are there, without
exposing the family to any financial risk.
I am happy I didn't give up and especially because I
insisted so that Mada lets me start the campaign, without
which all this money wouldn't have been raised.
I am happy I believed in Darius' chance all the time
and I knew it will all turn out well, even if there were
also some more difficult times that he's been through. I
remember that I always, always, was close to his grandmom
(with Mada I could only seldom talk) and I always encouraged
her and told her that it will be allright, even at the time
where the idea of the campaign wasn't yet shaped in my mind...
How it was possible? Only God knows, I believe I was only
His messenger, and my instinct was an inspiration from Him,
to help me encourage the family. I cannot explain it otherwise...
During the coming days the accounts will receive some
more money, already donated, and as soon as possible I will
declare this money raising campaign over. It would be a
sin in front of God to ask more than this, it would be a
fraud towards the other children that need help, it would
be unfair for the hundreds of donors if the campaign would
continue. I will then open a subject in the forum (www.babycafe.ro,
e.n.) to keep you posted on Darius' evolution, I am convinced
that many of you will want to have news about him.

It is not fair to have so many expensive tests and ultrasounds
during the pregnancy and have them not reveal severe fetal
malformations!
It is not fair to be considered responsible for what is
going on with your child from a medical point of view! You
are given the instructions, you are made responsible for
the mistakes made; sometimes you get phrases like "you
could be a nurse", all of these make you wonder if
it had not been better for you to stay home and take care
of your child as you know best, full of love and humanity,
something many lack …
It is not fair to be treated as if people around you are
awaiting your death from one day to the other!
It is not fair to ask for help and not get it because there
is too little staff!
It is not fair for a child to be pierced looking for a
vain while there are better methods that last a longer time!
It is not fair to ask for something to calm your child
down or sedate him once he is out of surgery! The doctors
should be the ones to know that even when you are 10 months
old you feel pain, hunger and heat discomfort.
It is not fair to want your own death, yours and your child's
when you hear (unsolicited) opinions like "he seems
to have neurological issues also … ". If medicine
is being practiced by people offering their own opinion,
then most of us should be doctors.
What Darius is going through now can hardly be called a
life, but through the good will of good people things could
change. People who believe in the chance that Darius has
have encouraged Madalina to see about a surgery abroad.
This is possible for a certain amount of money, small for
some people, huge for others, vital for Darius.
On
the 10th of October 2007 Darius celebrated his first birthday.
Unfortunately, during this first year of his life, Darius
has never spent any time in his own room, has never slept
in his own bed, has never seen the leaves of the trees but
through a hospital window, has never felt the warm sumer
wind on his cheeks, the sun has never caressed him, he knows
nothing of the taste of food, he has no idea of how free
life is, without tubes stuck all over his little body...
Nevertheless, Darius, on his birthday, thanks to the
wonderful souls who decided to donate, has almost half of
the money needed for his life-saving and liberating surgery
in his bank accounts.

Maybe, until the second anniversary of his life, with your
help, Darius will get to see his own room, sleep in his
own bed, watch the leaves in the park, feel the wind caressing
his cheeks, enjoy the light and warmth of the sun, taste
the food prepared by his mom and will be able to walk, run
and play.
